Gangs Of New-York

Scorsese knew completely what he gonna bestow to the silver screens . He roughly begins , smoothly continues and ends rough again . The play depicts the selfish violent face of city full of racists , patriots , avid politicians , painless leisured people and poors without support , amongst them gangs lurking in the streets fighting for the power making an ocean of blood .

Daniel day-lewis [William Cutting] plays a xenophobic antagonist who covers himself with the flag of America – a butcher – is the victim of a vengeance by the son of priest Vallon , the leader of another gang called Dead Rabbits whom he killed years ago . Leonardo DiCaprio [Amsterdam] , the son whose box of emotion has been dropped on his brain puts all his efforts in order to reach his ultimate goal ; his lair the Chapel .

Martin tries to picture a timeline in which people being slaughtered merciless , politicians with one dimension eyesight of themselves seeing their rivals fall down , destroying properties , killing agents , making alliance with gangs in order to reach their own interests .

Kameron Diaz didn’t fit in her character [ I didn’t like her ] for playing against Leonardo ; but Leonardo himself performs great . Daniel is a master , his shouts , his accent , his laughs , his fake cry , his sense of violence , his anger , his passion , … are engineered inside giving an excellent output . The set is almost perfect – could be better . Cinematography shines , specially on ash-filled scenes . Music tempers the movie . Anyway it’s one of Martin’s masterpieces and I dare you to watch it .

My Rating : 4/5
